Did OSC really write this? I’ve run a lot of programmers, and it’s spot on. Less so, but still ok, now as it’s becoming something that people expect to make money at, but in the mid-late 90s (when it was written), yes.

And I’ve always thought Ender’s Game, while ok, was overrated. I haven’t read the rest of the trilogy, and some people say that matters. Shoot me.

I think everyone should have to read this bullshit. There’s a pretty good summary here, but a close read probably suffices. Passing network traffic isn’t enough to fully utilize a processor, unless it’s 1989, and there’s no way in hell I want my operating system, let alone my MEDIA PLAYER, deciding when to throttle my network.

(Dave): That’s nothing, you should see how well XP does saving a file via http to a local USB thumb. These sentences took the following number of seconds to show up on my screen after being typed: 300+.
